Candy floss trailer hire: frequently asked questions

As early as you can. Saturdays during term time book out quickly, and the October to December gala season is the busiest period of our year.

We can not hold dates. Bookings are first in, first served.

The Floss Wagon is a single day hire. Pick-up is 12 hours before the event and needs to be returned by 10am the following day. Contact us if you would like to book it for a longer period.

You can cancel your booking if your event cannot go ahead. There is no deposit or hire fee, so there is no cancellation charge. Please give us as much notice as possible so we can make the date available again.

Nothing. There is no hire fee and no upfront cost. We are paid out of the sales, so if the trailer sells nothing you owe nothing.

40% of every sale. At the $10 RRP, that is $4 per serve.

Within five working days of the trailer being returned, direct to your nominated bank account.

$10 per serve. You keep 40%.

No deposit or bond is required.

The machine accepts both Paywave and cash, giving customers a choice of convenient payment options.

Any standard vehicle with a working towbar. No truck and no special licence.

No. A full New Zealand driver licence covers a trailer of this size.

The trailer is under 750kg and can be towed by most cars. It can be moved by 1-2 people with the jockey wheel down.

Access to mains power is required at the event (standard plug). A generator can also be hired from us for $50 per day if power is not available at your venue.

As a guide – the trailer is 6×4 in size (the candy floss machine stays on the trailer).

The Floss Wagon is pickup only from Lower Hutt. We’ll provide the collection details once your booking is confirmed.

Yes. Consumables for your event are included, so there is no restocking run part way through the day.

Sales will depend on factors such as crowd size, event length, weather and where the trailer is positioned. Positioning the trailer in a visible, high-traffic area can help attract more customers.

Candy floss melts when exposed to rain or moisture, so the Floss Wagon should be operated in a dry, covered area. If rain reaches the machine, lower the protective cover and stop using it until conditions improve. Please make sure your venue has suitable shelter if wet weather is forecast.

Because weather conditions cannot be guaranteed, there is no hire fee, deposit or minimum sales requirement. This means your group is not left with a financial loss if wet weather limits sales or prevents the machine from being used.

Turn it off and follow the start up instructions.

We serve Wellington city, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, the Kāpiti Coast and the Wairarapa. If you are just outside that, ask anyway.
